JAHQYAD [JUH-QUAD] AUSTIN
Jahqyad Austin is an Alumni of Food and Finance High School 18', graduating with a CTE endorsed diploma, a member of the national honors society, honored as culinarian of the year and a High principal's honor roll 99.23 Final GPA.

A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) '21 for baking and pastry
via full-tuition scholarship for his Associates, from C-CAP (Careers through Culinary Arts Program) 2018 culinary competition;
In his senior year of high school he was awarded the Russell Ferber Scholarship.

Growing up in Queens, NY he has always surrounded himself with other artists, life long learners and foodies.

He has successfully catered 100+ public and private catering events and ongoing.

His first Industry job at 16, he had interned at (the now closed) Union Fare Cafe/restaurant under Pastry Chef Thiago Silva through Careers Through Culinary Arts Program, C-CAP has a great reputation for helping underserved youth find passion and guidance in the field of hospitality, and he has built valuable skills with them well beyond his high school & college career.

The Grill, by Major Food Group where He worked service and prep as a pastry cook, 2017.

Food Network (FN for short) as a test kitchen Intern, 2018, and He had then done freelance work with FN for 2 ½ years.

1 michelin star restaurant Cafe Boulud, as a pastry cook in the summer of 2018 before college, with multiple specials he made being on the menu.

Food styling as an assistant since 2018 to the current year for various brands such as PepsiCo, Weight watchers, Bud light, Cheetos and many more.

While attending the CIA he interned at 3 Michelin star restaurant Eleven Madison Park (EMP) on 23rd street in Manhattan NY, honing the skills of what it takes to be a great pastry Chef.
Coming form an 8+ year career in fine dining Jahyqad has a love for classic French cuisine and the flavors of Caribbean/ American comfort food, which is reflected in his style and dishes he makes
After leaving fine dining he Jahqyad was a Sous Chef for a little over a year for a bakery in Bushwick where he lead production and specialized in cakes, cookies, breads, and more...
He was then part of a James Beard Fellowship in a cohort of 3 Chefs; himself, Chef Adji Jalloh and Tonii Hicks in 2021-2022 here he created a 3 course at home meal kit menu/recipes (produced and distributed) in collaboration with Great Performance's Georgette Farkas, the JBF team and sponsorship form Capital One. Jahqyad also cooked a 45 person Dinner with Chef Adji, Chef Tonii and his JBF Mentor Chef Raymond Mohan and Chef Skai at the James Beard house.
Jahqyad's mission with Jahqyad's Twist is to unlock the great flavors of his & your childhood, creating new moments and experiences through fun desserts and food s a whole.
