2 Quick and delicious Thanksgiving sides


Thanksgiving's all about spending time with your friends and family, no one wants to be stuck in the kitchen for 3 days. So here to quick sides, below are two sides you can make in less than 30 minutes, that includes prep time. So dig on in with these two quick sides.

Glazed rainbow carrots

Ingredients

1 Tbsn honey

2 cups of water

1 tspn crusted red pepper flakes

2 tspn adobo (with pepper)

2 Tbsn soy sauce

1 1/2 tspn hoisin sauce

2 bunches (about 2 pounds) of rainbow carrots, cut at an angle (biased cut) 

1/2 tspn cornstarch, dissolved in 1 Tbsn of water

Salt and pepper, to taste (at the end)

Procedure

  1. Peel and cut all the carrots at a biased (slanted) angle and set them aside in a bowl.

  2. In a medium-sized saucepan combine the first 7 ingredients. Stir them all together then allow the mixture to come to a simmer on medium heat (5 to 7 minutes).


  1. Raise the heat to high, once it comes to a boil stir in your slurry, which is the cornstarch and water mixture.

  2. Allow the mixture to boil for another 5 minutes and reduce on high for 2 minutes after it begins to boil.

  3. Add the carrots and continue to cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until fork-tender. If needed add 1/4 of a cup of water.

  4. Continue to reduce the glaze on tge carrots until it thickens and it becomes clear and translucent coating the carrots.

  5. Finish the dish with a dash of salt and pepper and adjust to preference.

  6. Enjoy your side

Easy peasy bow tie pasta

Ingredients

1 oz Box Bow tie pasta 

1 oz jar of Alfredo sauce 

1 bag of frozen sweet peas 

1 tpsn of oregano 

1 Tbsn of olive oil 

1 tspn of crushed red pepper flakes 

2 Tbsn butter, or margarine 

1/2 tspn of salt 

1/2 tpsn of ground pepper, last 

Procedure

  1. Cook the box of bow tie pasta according to the box instructions.

  1. In a medium sauce pan pour the Alfredo sauce, and all of the seasonings except the ground pepper, stir and continue to let the sauce cook for 5 minutes.

  2. In a pot boil the peas using the bags instructions or until tender.

  3. Add the peas to the sauce, stir them in to coat them.

  4. Drain the pasta, put it in a large bowl and coat with the olive oil, this prevents the starches from making the pasta stick together and dry out.

  5. Pour the peas and sauce over the pasta and fold it all together.

  6. Finish with the ground pepper and adjust taste with added salt if needed.

  7. Enjoy your side 🤤
